How much do your services cost?
We offer two options for county and city projects. You may request a flat rate quote for your project, or you may elect to pay on an hourly basis. Our currently hourly rate is $100. You select the method of billing in advance; we prepare the invoice and submit it along with the finished product and the research documents.
How quickly can you get me what I need?
It depends entirely on the nature of the project and the current status of other priority projects. However, you will give us a deadline at the beginning of the process. If, after consulting our book of business, we feel we cannot meet that deadline, you will be told so within 24 hours and given a list of 1-3 names of other contract research attorneys we can recommend. Generally, for a narrow question of law, we can deliver a researched opinion and supporting documentation within 2 business days as a rule, but will certainly entertain shorter turnaround times if required.
How is payment made?
CMLS can accept credit card payments through Paypal.com. However, most county finance departments prefer to be invoiced on 30-day terms. We are happy to comply with those requirements, and provide a W9 when requested directly to your county’s finance department.
I want to sue my county. Can you represent me?
No. We provide services only to county and city attorneys, and representing clients against these entities would create an impermissible conflict of interest. If you are looking for an attorney in South Carolina, please visit the SC Bar Association’s Find a Lawyer website.
I have another legal problem that doesn’t involve suing a county. Can you help me?
CMLS only offers services to county and city lawyers. If you are in South Carolina, and you would like to discuss retaining Ms. Schelin’s services as an attorney for bankruptcy or criminal defense/appellate matters, please visit her website at www.schelinlaw.com. If you are outside the state of South Carolina, please contact your state’s bar association for assistance in finding a lawyer licensed in your jurisdiction.
